We all love to make jokes (at least I do) about the wording of this material for basing, but all joking aside, flock is one of the most useful elements of basic basing. Universally, it is used as the "meat and potatoes" of basing an army quickly to get the units on the field all dressed up. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to apply flock and many of us choose the quick and easy way before thinking it through. Generally, there are three ways to apply flock that I use. I'll go over those applications here in great detail. These techniques can be used with just about any flocking material available to our hobby world...just keep in mind that not all flock is created equal. This is one of the reasons why I only use Skullcrafts flock materials. That's a whole different story though.
If you are looking to just basically cover your base with flock and have it look much like a golf course would, these techniques probably won't help you very much. If that's the case, it's really easy to explain how to do it. You put glue on your base, apply the flock and then let it dry. Once dry, tap off the excess and you're all set. Simple but it gets the job done. If you're looking for a bit more, try the techniques listed below. Challenge yourself!
